Marlin Thomas

Playwright

Born in the Bronx and raised in Queensbridge Houses, Marlin Thomas was educated at Queens College (CUNY), Johns Hopkins University, and New York University. He writes both academically and creatively; his review of Alan Turing: The Enigma was named the best computer review of 2015 by Computing Reviews.

His plays include Freud/Mahler (translated into Italian and published in the U.S. and Italy), The Middleman (a Best Play finalist at the 2020 New York Theater Festival), and Reparations (named Best Play in the 2024 International Theater Competition).

Queensbridge is drawn from his twenty-five-year history of living in public housing.

Director

An award-winning director, producer, and creative visionary whose work lives at the intersection of theatrical innovation, emotional truth, and cultural excavation. His work explores memory, identity, Black resilience, and the transformative power of art to heal communities and challenge systems.

A dynamic leader in the rehearsal room, his directing blends rigorous text analysis, musicality, movement, and emotionally grounded performance with bold theatricality.
